Astauto Ltd was established in 1991 by Sergio Rinland as a Design, Engineering and Management Consultancy Company specializing in Formula 1 as a spinoff of the Brabham F1 Team which ceased to exist at that time. Its first client was the Italian Team Fondmetal F1, for which Sergio and his Team designed a ground breaking Formula 1 car for 1992.

From 2003 onwards, Astauto expanded into other forms of Motorsport, ranging from Touring Cars, Indy Cars, GP2, Le Mans GT and Prototypes as well as advising companies within the Motorsport and Automotive sectors.

The services provided covered a wide range of disciplines from the design and development of complete cars and/or components to aerodynamic, vehicle dynamics and structural analysis and development of existing vehicles using the latest technologies and simulation methods as well as managing whole projects. In the last few years, Astauto has been heavily involved in Alternative Energy developments, Electric and Hybrid Cars projects for Racing and Automotive applications.
